Update on my Hoyu Beautylabo Bubble Whip Hair Color in Classical Berry

Maybe you remember that I dyed my hair 2 weeks ago with the Classical Berry hair dye from Hoyu Beautylabo´s Bubble Whip hair color range.

The color morphed into a rusty warm red just like the Berry Cassis from Prettia did. I think I should just steer clear of red Japanese hair dyes and stick with the browns as they do them pretty well.

The color faded a great deal and got significantly lighter.

Here is the before just after I dyed my hair:

And here the after as of today. I washed my hair about 11-12 times since I dyed my hair 2 weeks ago:

Doesn´t it look like I used another light red hair dye? Amazing how the color changed! Seems staying power isn´t the best!

Hoyu Beautylabo Bubble Whip Hair Color in Classical Berry

It was just a matter of time that other Japanese brands would start to come out with foaming hair colors just like Kao Prettia´s version!

Hoyu Beautylabo seems to be quite a popular Japanese hair dye brands and they released the Bubble Whip Hair Color just shortly ago.
The Bubble Whip is the cutest hair dye I have seen so far! It comes in a shaker like you would use for milk shake... and which makes this hair color even comfier to use than the Prettia one!

Mixing and using this is super easy. Just pour agent 1 in the shaker, then add the powder and then shake your soul out. I would say I gave it about 30-40 heavy shakes and ended up with nice fluffy foam.At first the dye has a strong berry scent but after mixing it´s quite a pungent harsh ammonia smell.

Then scoop out the foam with your hands and slap it on your head - done! Application takes me about 5 minutes, with about 3 minutes extra to massage and make sure the hairline is covered well.

Since you take the foam out of the shaker with your hands you don´t need to push a bottle or something which was the only small draw-back of the Prettia colors as my fingers start to hurt after some time and application takes at least 10 minutes longer for me.

I chose the color Classical Berry. The color that should come out seems to vary greatly on your natural color so it´s probably somewhere between a medium berry red and deep plum.

I can´t yet say anything about the staying power of this dye but the color I got is this:

After:

As you see there isn´t much difference. Not much red either. So this is pretty much where my excitement ends! My hair is smooth and shiny and doesn´t feel damaged or dry at all (I use lots of nourishing stuff for it though!) but I honestly wanted a slightly more purplish color or any noticable color at all! And I am pretty sure that after say 5 washes most of the slight reddish tint will pretty much be gone!
Maybe it´s not to blame on the color but on the fact that my hair has several dyes on top of each other now so maybe it just doesn´t take anymore!

I will try other colors later on but so far I am not overly thrilled! At least my kids love to play with the shaker that came with the dye =P

I got my Hoyu Beautylabo from eBay (my favorite seller Alphabeautyuk).

Update on my Prettia hair color Berry Cassis (after 1 week) & Hoyu Beautylabo Hair Color in Velvet Brown

So I just dyed my hair ago with Prettia´s Bubble Hair Color in Berry Cassis (or Cassis Berry or whatever it´s called).
While initially I really liked the color I have to say that after a few washes it started to catch a rusty orangey tone, especially on the roots as they were lighter (my natural hair color is about light-medium brown) so the 1cm of hair closest to my scalp looked really yucky. The overall color was still pretty but I just couldn´t stand the look of the orange roots so............tada...... I dyed my hair again =O

Look: =X

I didn´t intend to do it so quickly but really my hair looked gross! To my delight the Hoyu Beautylabo color I used was rather mild so my hair doesn´t look or feel damaged or fried at all but surely I will give it a dye break now until the outgrowing hair will be really ugly (say 1-2 months =P)

The Beautylabo dye is a regular cream color which consists of 2 agents. You just squeeze the tube into the bottle, shake and apply. You also get a leave-in treatment for afterwards.

To my horror I noticed that after doing about 3/4 of my head I ran out of the dyeing cream! Yikes! I thought the 120ml of dye would be enough for my hair as the 100ml Prettia dye are even too much and cover all my hair and possible another short haired person if I wanted to. Seems the bubbles really make a difference in that (and also their application was more pleasant).

Anyhow, with lots of combing, squeezing out the last bits of dye and massaging I was able to cover my head and hoped for a somewhat even result.

The color I used is called Velvet Brown which is more of a deep blueberry-toned brown shade. I really really heart that color so much (it took more of a reddish blackberry tone on me)! I like my hair darker and this color is just outstanding in my opinion.

Here is the before:

And after:

Will update on how this color performs, I hope the rusty tones of the Prettia won´t come out soon.

Next time I will probably use a Prettia color again though =P They have lots of pretty browns and the bubbles are just so convenient!
