Xmas 2009: Cosme Decorte Magie Deco Coffret III (Romantic Gothic)

Yup yup, I said I am going to quit this coffret =) The only shop carrying this was Ichibankao and the price was just a little to high for me.
However Facial-Shop got it for quite a bit less so I decided to snatch it up finally.

I collected all the Xmas coffrets from Magie Deco so I am happy that I was able to add the 3rd one to my collection.

Last year brought us a really gorgeous coffret (click here!). This year features only 2 products and a brush but the 2 makeup items are gorgeous and well worth the money considering the retail prices of Cosme Decorte´s younger brand Magie Deco.

The Coffret III contains:
-Shadow Brillance CR -Pressed Powder CR
-face brush with satin pouch
Retail price: 6825 Yen
I still see the coffret listed on Bobodave (around $77 plus shipping) and Facial-Shop (around $85 incl. shipping)

The Shadow Brillance is usually not among my faves as I find the shadows often have a crumbly odd texture creating an utter mess during application. That´s why I let go most of my Shadow Brillance palettes.
The CR color from the coffret however is really good, very silky and fine texture with a delicately milled shimmer. I don´t know why the regular palettes don´t work for me but the CR palette definitely does.

Admittedly the palette is quite a bit warmer than I usually like but thankfully the darkest color is dark and neutral enough to balance the whole look out.

The colors are white, golden brown, pink, deep plum and a gorgeous soft neutral beige with a glazed metallic finish. The beige is my favorite color of the lot, it makes a great wash color but also is pretty used as a highlighter. The other 4 colors have a soft pearl-like shimmer.

The shadows stay well and blend effortlessly (and don´t crumble or fly around), so no complaints here.

The Face Powder CR is a gorgeous pale pink highlighter with a delicate pattern sprayed on with silver glitter.

The finish of this is a very soft finely milled shimmer so there is no disco ball effect. This is one of the better highlighters out there but it´s not something extremely unusual or special as you can find highlighters like this in cheaper brands.

The brush is decent, there are softer and better ones out there though!

So overall I really like the coffret, this is yet another deep-plum-themed palette, a color that was featured a lot among Japanese brands this Xmas season.

Small haul from Bobodave (Jill Stuart & Magie Deco)

I haven't really ordered many times from Bobodave but they are really one of the best sources to get hard to find items like Jill Stuart's Xmas Coffrets and Limited Editions... (though you will have to pay for the rarity factor...the kits are really expensive).

Anyway, many items are moderately priced and can't be found elsewhere online for decent prices (like Cosme Decorte Magie Deco stuff which is more affordable on Bobodave than other online shops that stock their items)

I had placed a pre-order for a certain item and paid for it some weeks ago but when the item finally came out I didn't need it anymore (for variour reasons) so I asked if I could used the money towards other items. That was possible so I picked the following items:

-Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Colour in #23 Shiny Onyx
-Jill Stuart Jelly Lip Gloss in #05 Frosted Cheerry
-Cosme Decorte Magie Deco Lipstick in PK851 Twinkle Venus
(Jill Stuart and Cosme Decorte are Kose brands btw)

-Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Colour & Jelly Lip Gloss:

Hmmmmm...I normally neither like tubed lipglosses nor do I really enjoy the few Jelly Eye Colour I have in my stash. LOL!
The Jelly Eye Colour in #23 is about the 3rd taupe-ish color Jill Stuart released and the one in #23 (from the current Spring collection) looked like the perfect metallic glistening taupe so I finally gave in and ordered it.

And I think the Jelly Lip Gloss ended up in my shopping list firstly because of the pretty tube (I am a sucker, you know!), secondly because fuzkittie posted a FOTD using this gloss (in another color though) and it looked so lush and pretty and the final reason is that my brain just malfunctions when it comes to Jill Stuart hehe =D

The Jelly Eye Colour comes in a very pretty heavy glass jar (everything Jill Stuart makes is pretty, princessy and just adorably cute!).

You have to close the cover VERY well or those little suckers will dry out (one of my Jelly Eye Colour entered Nirvana about 6 months after I bought it as the cover wasn't closing 100% tightly)
The texture is a cool bouncy gel with unexpected amazing color pay-off. My main pet-peeve with gel eyeshadows is the sheer glittery finish they usually give so the one from Jill Stuart is very nice in that point.

You need to be quick when applying the gel shadow as it dries down more or less right away but you can add another layer (not really more as the shadows gets clumpy otherwise).
The Jelly Eye Colour in #23 Shiny Onyx is a gorgeous metallic gray taupe with lots of fine silver glitters throughout.
The result is a glistening taupe that looks really pretty!

As everything Jill Stuart produces this is scented but it doesn't irritate my eyes at all.

Retail is 2200 Yen (about US$ 23) for 6g. I paid a few $ more from Bobodave.
This was a Limited Edition Color and is not available anymore to my knowledge.

The Jelly Lip Gloss comes in the cutest tube you can imagine. It's even adorned with a pink crystal on the top of the cap.

The lightly scented gloss has a slightly sticky texture which lasts decently and gives a very pretty glossy shine.
The color is sheer but shows up on my lips.

The color #05 Frosted Cherry is a pretty light pink with shimmers and goes very well with the Jelly Eye Colour in #23 Shiny Onyx.

Retail is also 2200 Yen. This is marked up higher in most shops, I believe Gooddealer is the cheapest source for this item.

Magie Deco is the trendier but nonetheless quite expensive department store line from Kose's prestige brand Cosme Decorte.
While Kose makes some wonderful cosmetics I think their expensive lines (except for Jill Stuart) are rather mediocre so it's better investing in some Esprique Precious or Visee as the price is right considering the quality.

I was mighty disappointed with the crumbly sheer eyeshadow quints from Magie Deco. For the money they take for the palettes they should really offer great quality.
Anyway, away from the eyeshadows I only tried another few items from Magie Deco and their lipstick was attracting me for some time.

So I finally gave in and added the color PK851 Twinkle Venus to my cart as the last item I wanted to buy.

The Lipstick (yep, no fancy name at all, it's just Lipstick) comes in a pretty pink and silver tube.

The texture of this is not really perfection though as it's rather dry and matte (well, maybe more satin) and doesn't feel really that comfortable to wear. A moisturizing base and maybe a dab of gloss are needed in my opinion.
Therefore the lipstick lasts rather well!

The color PK851 Twinkle Venus is a pretty plummy pink without real shimmer. Best worn with a lipgloss on top.
I am not entirely sure for how much this retails but my guess would be about 3150 Yen or around that.
I paid about US$34 on Bobodave for 5g of Lipstick (which is quite a large lippie considering most contain about 2.5-4 grams)

All in all a nice lot and I enjoy using all 3 items =D

Bobodave also included this cute mini lipgloss with my order! =D

Xmas 2008: Cosme Decorte Magie Deco Coffret II

I think this year Kose has some of the pretties Coffrets for Xmas. I ordered the one from Cosme Decorte Magie Deco and Esprique Precious and my dearest friend Iris CPed me the Beaute de Kose kit, too.

I really liked last years Magie Deco Coffret I but it consisted only of 2 items, an eyeshadow quad and a shimmery loose powder highlighter.

This year you get 4 items in a very pretty black gift box presented on a black velvety material so this makes a very elegant and pretty present.

Like most Japanese brands Cosme Decorte decided to play safe and offer a set of neutral universally flattering shades to be wearable for most women. However I really love the combination of items and overall looks I can create with either of the Kose Xmas coffrets.

The Cosme Decorte Magie Deco Coffret II contains:

-Fairy Powder #01 13.5g
-Fairy Gloss RO660 7g
-Fairy Eyes GD040 6ml
-Fairy Brush (retractable blusher brush)
Retail: 6300 Yen (about US$65, I paid a bit more)

-Fairy Powder 01:

This is the heart piece of the collection and it's really pretty. It's a striped highlighter/blush in a beautiful red and gold compact (very Xmas-y!).

It consists of 5 colors stripes in the white/beige/pink range.
The MD logo is dusted with golden glitter but after wiping it off the highlighter gives just a pretty shimmery finish. The shimmer is very fine so it will look elegant and not too much like teenager makeup (which often has more obvious glitters)
I find this more to be a brightening powder/highlighter but I can also get a pretty light pinky peach blush. However it is quite light on me so it depends on your skin-tone which use you prefer for this.

The texture is a bit powdery so there is lots of fly-off but the pigment and finish are good.
The powder is lightly scented with Kose's typical fruity scent (they use the same one for most Beaute de Kose things, too!).

-Fairy Gloss RO660:

This is similar to Magie Deco's Fairy Rouge (texture-wise) but comes in pretty very Christmas-like tube. The Fairy Gloss seems to be an item only available in the kit as I cannot find a Fairy Gloss range on the Magie Deco website.
It's a rather pigmented gloss with a very shimmery finish. The tiny shimmer bits can feel a bit scratchy if I rub my lips very strongly together but otherwise the gloss feels rather lightweight and comfortable to wear.
It's only slightly sticky and not thick or gooey.

The color RO660 is a beautiful plum with pink and silver shimmer bits. Since it's not opaque (but about medium pigmented) it looks lighter and redder and very pretty. It's like my lips color but about 2 shades deeper.

The gloss base itself is not that glossy but due to the shimmer bits it reflects light beautifully.
Staying power is average, about 1-2 hours like most other glosses.
The gloss has a very faint scent which is not overpowering or strong at all.

-Fairy Eyes GD040:

I only tried the Fairy Eyes in BK051 which is a disappointing color as it's just a sheer silver base with tons of (annoying) chunky glitters.
However the Fairy Eyes GD040 is very different.
It's a liquid eyeshadow very similar to Beaute de Kose's Eye Fantasist (no surprise as Kose seems to repeat their items in their different makeup lines) so it dries down to an almost budge-proof and crease-free finish on me. It has a brush applicator which is quite comfy to use.

The color GD040 is a very pretty soft metallic light gold with minimal shimmer flecks. It's a very neutral color so it should be wearable for about anyone.

I dot a few dots on my lids and spread the cream with my ring finger by gently patting the color on (instead of swiping). I do 2 layers and the result is very pretty.
The Fairy Eyes is a full size but the color is exclusive to the kit.
The retail value would be 2940 Yen

-Fairy Brush:

The brush is a very soft retractable blusher brush in a pretty silver container. I think it's quite useful and of good quality.

Overall the look you can create with this coffret is very pretty.
The plum lips, shimmery icy pink cheeks and soft golden lids makes a gorgeous holiday look!
I think this makes a perfect gift, too!
