Fall 2011: Maquillage Essence Glamorous Rouge in RS794

If you see this post on another site than lotuspalace.blogspot.com it has been stolen and used without my permission. I only allow reposts with proper credits for my work (please contact me first!)!
I arrived to Egypt last week hence my lack of posts, sorry! I am quite busy with family duties and other stuff so posting is limited these days *sigh*
Anyways, I purchased one of the new Essence Glamorous Rouge lipglosses from Maquillage a few weeks ago and just wanted to do a quick review now.
I bought mine from Alphabeautyuk on eBay but I have also seen these on Adambeauty now.

The Essence Glamorous Rouge comes in a silvery rounded tube with a very nice slanted doe-foot applicator made of a very soft fuzzy material distributing the right amount of color.

The gloss is creamy and totally un-sticky while feeling moisturizing and just wonderfully pleasant to wear.
This unscented gloss wears very well for a decent amount of time before it needs to be reapplied.

The finish is glossy but not mirror-shine and the color shows up well as this product is relatively pigmented for a gloss (or liquid lipstick).

RS794 is a very pretty cool mauvey rose pink.

Overall I really love this stuff and will say it´s excellent like the majority of Maquillage lipsticks/glosses. I can´t find anything negative about this lovely product.

Spring 2011: Maquillage Lighting Eyes Creator VI342 & Rouge Enamel Glamour PK744

Maquillage released a new series of eye palettes called "Lighting Eyes Creator" for the 2011 spring look and even though all looked a bit pastel I decided to pick up the one in VI342 as it looked like a pretty lilac/taupe combo.
I am also quite fond of the Rouge Enamel Glamour, a 2-step long-lasting lip color so I got one of the new colors, too. Please read about what´s a 2-step lipcolor, how to apply it etc. in my previous review here.

The new Lighting Eyes Creator reminds me very much of one color of the older palettes from Maquillage though I can´t remember which range exactly that was.

These eyeshadows are very sheer, compared to the previous Eyes Creator palettes that´s quite a disappointment in my opinion. I think the spring palettes usually tend to be on the sheer side but I prefer pigmented shadows I can just apply sheerly instead of unpigmented shadows that take layers to show up somewhat decently.

The shimmer in the colors is very pretty as it´s very finely milled and gives a gorgeous softly gleaming finish to the lids. The shadow at the very right is glittery but it´s meant to be used just to give some shimmery accents to certain areas of your lids so it adds a nice extra touch.

The shadows apply, blend and stay nicely but as I mentioned above they are very sheer so the colors don´t show up too well on me.

VI342 is a combination of ivory, lilac, grayish taupe and a glittery silver (the pale blue tinge doesn´t show up at all).

Overall a nice eyeshadow palette creating a soft feminine look but it´s not worth hunting down or shelling out retail or even more for this product. It´s just mediocre.

2 looks I did:

Rating 3.5/5

The Rouge Enamel Glamour is just like the other one I purchased in fall so I won´t go into details, please check the review here.

PK344 is a pretty natural pink, just like half a shade deeper and more coral than my natural lip color. Topped with the clear gloss it´s really ultra-shiny and lasting-power is fantastic unless I eat something greasy.

Rating 4.5/5, deducting half point for the slightly dry feeling this leaves on the lips if I don´t reapply the gloss somewhat frequently.
I got both items on eBay from Alphabeautyuk.

Shiseido Maquillage 5th Anniversary Powder Celebration

A Happy New Year to everyone! =D I hope you had a great start to the new year! Since the kids are not in school these days I am too busy to really sit on the net but today I could get some time off to blog finally!

Shiseido released a special product to celebrate Maquillage´s 5th birthday! Wow, so long since that brand debuted, I can remember that time very well... I was a bit sad as they discontinued PN, MQ´s predecessor, but now I think that MQ has developed into a really good makeup brand so I am actually not missing PN at all.

The Powder Celebration is hands-down the most expensive makeup product I have purchased so far. It´s definitely a luxurious splurge but I couldn´t resist it nonetheless =)

The Powder Celebration is a huge beautiful vintage-style glass jar including 7 shades of loose powder, a pressed mini powder compact, a spatula and a brush. Everything comes housed in a pretty and sturdy golden cardboard box.
The powders are housed in a plastic container so you can just remove it when you´ve used up the powders to put other things in the glass jar (I imagine jewellery or luxe chocolates would be a nice filling).

Anyway, you get 7 shades of powder, but there is twice as much of the white color compared to the other shades.

The powders are arranged in a wheel with a compartment in the middle to mix the colors according to your needs (just take a little with the included spoon). For me the space in the center is not nearly huge enough to swirl my face brush comfortably though so I prefer to mix the colors in the powder´s cover.

The texture of these loose powders is excellent, super finely milled and soft with a delicate floral scent. The colors are super sheer so they are really rather finishing powders than color powders in my opinion even though MQ suggest using the powders as eyeshadows and blushes, too.

The colors included are white (pearl finish), light beige, purple (pearl finish), green (pearl finish), pink, orange and yellow.
My dear friend Iris from Rouge Deluxe wrote this excellent and very detailed post on the Powder Celebration, like how to use the colors so I highly suggest checking her post out here!

I think it´s good that they included more of the white powder as I usually mix it with the other colors.
I love using a mix of the white and purple or green all over my face and highlight and a bit of the pink on my cheeks..even though it´s not really adding color it makes my complexion look fresher in an instant.
The yellow color is great for setting eye concealer as it´s so finely milled it won´t settle into fine lines and in the same time the light yellow tint is correcting the bluish tones of the skin under my eyes.
I don´t use the beige and orange colors much...the beige is a good finishing powder and the orange is also a good skin-freshener but I just like the pink a bit more for this purpose.

Overall excellent quality powders but the included amount of 32g (which sounds a lot at first) won´t last that long as actually a considerable amount per application is being used. I wish MQ would sell an affordable refill of these powders as they are the first loose powder product I actually like!

This set also contains a pressed version including all 7 colors blended together into 1 compact. The small plastic compact contains a measly 4 g which will not last really long but it´s handy to use it on the go and it gives a really gorgeous ethereal glow to the skin. The color is very sheer so this should suit most skin-tones as either a finishing powder or a highlighter.
The cute pattern is just a glitter overspray that will vanish after the first use.

The brush is of really nice quality albeit to small to be used as a face brush, its good for punctual application like on the cheeks or below eyes.
The spoon is a cheapo plastic thing, not exactly elegant but it does the trick.

Now let´s talk about the price. To me the price is downright obscene despite being a limited edition and the fancy glass jar.
I mean around US$150 for some powder? Take a break! I was lucky not to pay more than retail plus shipping but still it hurts =P

Anyway, it gets a rating of 4/5 as the quality is excellent but the price is too steep. They should have included some cooler stuff like lipstick or eyeshadows I think =P

Adambeauty haul (Coffret d´Or spring collection)

Today I received my most recent Adambeauty haul as he started listing the new spring collection from Coffret d´Or last week! Coffret D´or gave its new collection quite a different look than previous ones, sort of more mature and grown up =( ...with eyehadow/blush refills sold separately from the cases.
The compacts are sold in either black/silver or white/pink and of course I opted for the latter as it´s just prettier =)
Since the refills and cases are sold individually the total price is higher than for the previous palettes...a bit of a bummer but since the refills come in sturdy clear plastic cases you might actually skip the compact and save some bucks.

Adambeauty´s prices for the blush or eyeshadows already include a case but you must add the compact(s) of your choice extra (listed @ HK$0), so don´t forget this if you are going to order!

Anyway, here is my order! Didn´t play with the goodies yet but will start today =)

Oh and in other news.... going to review this precious treasure here soon, too!

Fall 2010: Shiseido Maquillage Dual Glow Eyes GR273 & Rouge Enamel Glamour RS754

Shiseido added a small bunch of products for this fall season to the Maquillage makeup line.
When I spotted the pics of this collection on Rouge Deluxe I was definitely attracted to the new lipstick duos but didn´t really pay attention to the new cream shadow duos as they somehow looked a bit pale and blah. I got one of each of the new items though:
The new Rouge Enamel Glamour is probably the first really long-lasting lip color I have seen among Japanese brands. It´s the same concept as e.g. Lipfinity from Max Factor: Apply a thin coat of the lip color to the lips, let it dry for about 1-2 minutes without closing your mouth and then add the shiny gloss for extra shine and comfort (as the lip color alone is usually a bit sticky and/or feels really dry). After that the color stays put until it gets removed and you just have to reapply the gloss for keeping the lips moist and shiny.
The first generation long-lasting lip colors I have tried were really drying and usually the colors were on the brighter, matte or dark side. Usually the lipstick wore off at the inner part of the lips so it didn´t look pretty after some hours of wear. Greasy or oily food also made the lipstick wear off unevenly.
The new Rouge Enamel Glamour from Maquillage comes in a cute lipstick tube with the liquid lipstick one one side and the lipgloss on the other. There is 2.1g of the color and 3.8g of the lipstick which is thoughful as the lipgloss has to be used more often thus will be finished quicker if comes in the same weight as the lipcolor.
The lip color is very smooth and applies really evenly with the soft fuzzy flat applicator but one must be sure to correct smudges right away as otherwise they will dry down quickly and then a makeup-remover (one with oil for waterproof makeup) would be needed to correct and mistakes.
After letting it set for about 2 minutes I apply a coat of the gloss (flat clear plastic spatula applicator) which gives a really super glossy finish with fine shimmer bits throughout.
To me this is one of the comfortable long-wearing lippies as the gloss really helps in keeping my lips moist and pretty and prevents that sort of grainy and dry feeling some other similar products can leave behind. The color will definitely not transfer anywhere and will not stain a drinking glass etc. (but of course the lipgloss will leave greasy marks)
I wore this yesterday for around 6 hours with lots of talking etc. and I only had to reapply the gloss twice until I used cleansing oil to remove the color.
I am really happy with the color I got. RS754 is like a light plummy pink which looks very similar to my natural lip color. The gloss is clear with iridescent shimmer bits. At first the color looks creamy but dries down to a nearly matte finish. The color opacity is about medium I´d say.
First swatch was taken right after application, the 2nd after about 5 minutes.

The other fall item I picked up is the Dual Glow Eyes in GR273 as mentioned above.
It´s a cream eyeshadow duo which is a reason why I didn´t even take a closer look at this product when I saw the first pics appearing on Rouge Deluxe.
However when I saw this post I had to pick up the one in GR273 because the duo looked darn gorgeous on Iris! =D
This is similar to the previous versions of MQ´s cream shadows but in my opinion the new version is nicer as it´s not so sheer and pastel like the other ones (this is solely judging based on trying 1 color of the Dual Glow Eyes though!).
Cream shadows are something a bit tricky in my opinion. Either they are great and don´t budge/smudge/crease or they make a greasy mess on my lids... there is not really any stage in between in my opinion.
To my delight the one from Maquillage falls into the first category which means the color, once set, will not move until it´s taken off.
Application is a breeze with my fingers, the colors blend perfectly and don´t look messy or uneven on me at all.
The darker color is really nicely pigmented and is complemented by the lighter more shimmery color really nicely.
GR273 is a gorgeous smoky grayish-green paired with a light seafoam color. Quite subtle but cool color perfect for fall, even for those afraid of wearing greens! The shadows are both shimmery so some might find the amount of fine glitter a bit too much though!
Overall a gorgeous set of makeup for the fall and exactly my kind of colors. I am very happy I picked them up! I got the items from Gooddealer but they can be found on many other websites like Mihokoshop, Ichibankao or eBay. Adambeauty doesn´t list these yet but will probably be the cheapest place to pick these up!
