Love Clover Lip Treatment Butter

Lipbalms are a passion of mine (well, obviously makeup and beauty stuff in general haha!)... so I have about 10 dozens of sticks, pots and tubes of lipcare floating around, sometimes find balms I had forgotten about in my beauty stash and of course buying whatever new things are coming out.

My most recent purchase is Love Clover's new Lip Treatment Butter. For some odd reason I cannot resist any beauty product with the name "butter" in it...it just sounds so luscious, creamy and nurturing.

The Lip Treatment Butter comes in a cute little glass jar with a golden/pink metal cover. You also get a small spatula so you don't need to dig the balm out with your fingers!

The balm has a thick vaseline-y texture but doesn't feel greasy, more like a glossy balm.
The lipcare is very lightly scented (sweet with a fresh menthol note..but really only very faint) and leaves a slightly cool feeling upon application.

I feel the balm is really nicely moisturizing and makes my lips smooth and soft. Since it's a rather emollient balm leaving a good barrier this is a great balm for chapped lips.

Honestly this is a very pricey balm at 1365 Yen (about US$14...and more when you purchase it online) but I really like it. I probably won't repurchase as I always try out new balms and have some favorites that are a little cheaper (Shiseido Therapind Oil Balm in Pot, Kiss, Kose Happy Bath Day etc.)

Love Clover Lip Dolcecafe 5261 & 5262

My last foray into Love Clover was a disaster (PopChu Gloss...yuck!)! Admittedly Love Clover has really nice blushes but away from them I haven't much ventured into this brand. I just remember that I didn't like the eyeshadows when I tried them on my trip to Tokyo a few years back.

Love Clover items come in really cute packaging so I was instantly drawn to their cute new lipglosses (or liquid lipsticks or whatever you wanna call them).. they look like Maquillage's Neo Climax Lip and Visee's Nudy Rouge as the tip is a lipstick-shaped plastic with small holes to dispense the rouge color.

The tubes are made of brown glittery plastic with the "Lip Dolcecafe" logo printed on. The caps are pale pink.

I was afraid that these lippies would be coffee-flavored. Thankfully they're not, they're unscented and don't taste like anything.

The texture is rather creamy and not sticky or gooey at all. The coverage is sheer but still the color payoff is good.
The only little complaint I'd have is that the colors sometimes go on a bit unevenly. So a lip base is a must in my opinion.

The Lip Dolcecafe glosses (or I should rather call them lip creams) are very comfortable to wear and have decent lasting-power (about 2 hours or so on me).

I really like the 2 I have because the texture is great and I love the colors (I seem to always stick with the same colors...I am really a sucker for pink beiges, roses, soft pinks and nudes).

5261 Raspberry Sorbet: On the swatch online it looks like a deep berry rose. However it turns out to be a pretty soft pink.

5252 Peach Bonbon: Light pinky peach nude shade. Looks very pretty and natural but not too light (aka corpse-like).

Retail in Japan is 1680 Yen (about US$17). I got mine from Ichibankao.
There are 3 more colors (an orangey peach, beige brown and reddish brown).

Spring 2009: Love Clover Stick Pen Nail

I think I rarely posted about nail polishes... I have about 2489878978968976 different colors but most of the time go au natural as a) nail polishes don't last long on me and b) the whole procedure takes so long (filing, buffing, base coat, 2 coats color, top coat....wait wait wait till it's dry and I will still make a dent in at least 1 nail) it's not really worth it for the 2-3 days I'll enjoy my manicure.

The best nail polish I discovered so far is one from Paul & Joe in a fire-engine red. It stays shiny and doesn't chip for like a week so it's perfect for me (way better than any of my OPI nail polishes!). However I am not always in the mood for super bright nail polish so I don't wear it that often. I think I should give a try to other P&J nail colors to see if they perform just as well.

Anyways, Love Clover came out with an interesting little item which is a nail polish in a pen with a button on the bottom so you just push to get the color flowing out.
I thought this looked cool so I decided to pick out 2 of the available colors.

The Stick Pen Nail looks cute with its pretty ornaments printed on and it does work decently.
The brush is a little stiff and the nail polish is rather liquid (probably needs to be to flow out well).

There are a few things I don't like about this item though:
-The pen only contains 4ml so it will be used up quickly
-One of the colors (the Strawberry Pink #04) is super sheer so even 2 coats look uneven. Besides that I hate the color as it's a super bright neon text liner pink, bleh!
-The other color I have Nude Beige #02 goes on a little streaky but otherwise it's the perfect easy-care pink-beige perfect for French Manicures etc.

The good:
-Dries quickly
-nice high shine without any bubble even with 2-3 coats
-color lasts well for several days.

How to use: Shake well, push the button until color flows and apply.

I paid US$16/each from ichibankao. Retail is 987 JPY.

Love Clover Pop Chu Gloss Vanilla Beige....ugh!

I was somehow lusting over those cute new Love Clover Pop Chu Glosses ever since I saw them but just never ordered one. I am just not really into Love Clover even though they have some nice items (I really love their blushes!)

When I ordered last time from Ichibankao I was browsing the store and decided to finally give a try to the gloss in Vanilla Beige which looked like a pretty nude beige.

The Pop Chu Glosses look like lollipops which is a cute idea in my opinion.
the have a stiff plastic spatula applicator which is fine (I prefer the softer flexible kind you find in other glosses like those from Maquillage, Ipsa, Intergrate etc. though).

The color is a pretty sheer peach beige with fine shimmer. The gloss carries enough pigment for my taste and has a very thick and sticky texture. This means it stays on very well unlike other runnier glosses.

Sounds all pretty good but what I just can't get over is the ghastly scent of this gloss.
It smells like plastic orange vomit. Errr, that's at least what I imagine it would smell like. It's so disgusting I get shivers when I just sniff the spatula.

I am really disappointed as I had expected some nice vanilla scent but not yucky rotten oranges!
So big nay from me, there are other glosses in this color that are not scented or fragranced with a nice yummy aroma.

I paid about US$20 incl. shipping. I think the retail for this is somewhere around 1200 Yen or so.
