Xmas 2009: Aube Couture Designing Jewel Compact 02 Purple x Rose

My Xmas reviews are slowly finding an end...after all it´s time for spring and its beautiful new collections =)


You might have read my review for Aube Couture´s Designing Jewel Compact in 04 Silver x Beige and admittedly it´s one of my best Xmas purchases for 2009. I used the palette already quite a few times as I really enjoy using it!


After much consideration I finally decided to order 04 as well. As I said it looked similar to the permanent Designing Eyes eyeshadow in 505 (which is one of my favorite purple palettes!) but I expected the Designing Jewel Compact to be a bit more shimmery and indeed the shadows are a little bit different.

Actually I like the Xmas version better than 505! The eyeshadows have a beautiful shimmer and slightly more pigment making the colors look more outstanding. The purple-tone is very similar, exactly the grayed tint I like and which is so flattering for my colorings.


The eye colors in the Xmas palette are smooth and silky with a decent dose of pigment. I really like them!

I think 505 is subtler (aka not so shimmery) and might be more suitable for office-wear but I like shimmery colors more so the Xmas palette is really gorgeous.

The lipsticks are pretty rosy pinks that go so well with the shadows. The gloss is clear with shimmer.


Overall I am very glad I got the palette as I know it will get used a lot along with its sister in 04. I love the cute compact and large bulky size, too, as it makes me feel I got something for my money (not a flimsy cardboard thingy like from Majolica! *winkwink')
